Have you fallen in love with one of our animals but not in a position to adopt?

Every day, our dedicated team at Colonial Capital Humane Society work tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals who have been abandoned, neglected, or abused. However, we cannot continue this crucial work without the generous support of compassionate individuals like you.  Many of the dogs and cats who occupy our shelter are long-term or special-needs residents, and may stay in the shelter for many months or years until they find a forever home.

Your monthly sponsorship gift of $30 will make a tangible difference in the lives of these vulnerable animals. Whether it's providing quality food, enrichments, or medical care every dollar you contribute helps us provide a brighter future for these deserving creatures.

By sponsoring one of our shelter animals, you're not just giving money – you're giving hope. You're giving abandoned pets a second chance at life. You're giving injured animals a chance to heal. And most importantly, you're giving love to those who need it most. Your kindness and generosity will have a lasting impact on the lives of countless animals in our community.

In return for your generosity, we offer various sponsorship benefits tailored to showcase their commitment to animal welfare and community support. These benefits include a certificate, a printed photo of your selected sponsored pet, a shout out on our social media, and a CCHS sticker. Sponsors will also receive regular updates and impact reports detailing how their donation is making a difference in the lives of the animal they are sponsoring. You’ll also be among the first to know when we’ve found them a new home – at that time you will have the opportunity to sponsor a different shelter pet.

Your sponsorship will remain on the pet’s account for as long as you choose. Whether that be one month, the remaining time of the animals stay at CCHS, or anything in between. Below you find a list of adoptable dogs and cats who are included in our sponsorship program.

In addition, supporting your local animal shelter not only helps our furry friends in need but can also benefit you come tax time! Donations to animal shelters are often tax deductible, offering a rewarding way to give back while potentially lowering your tax burden. Consult IRS guidelines or a tax professional for specifics on eligibility and deductions.

TRIX

I came to CCHS early 2024 after being transferred from another shelter. I am a happy, loving little girl. I am best known for my “zoomies”. I would be a great dog for anybody. Overall I am quiet and easy to train. My hobbies include playing with other dogs, going on walks in the park, and watching humans play pickle ball.

DILLON

I was welcomed into the kitten program late 2012 with my two brothers. In 2013 I made my way to the shelter and was very shy and reserved. During my time at the shelter, I have learned that people are kind because of the love and support my shelter family has given me. I am the oldest cat in the CCHS Shelter!!! I love to be brushed and I really enjoy a good belly rub.

COPPER

I came to Colonial Capital Humane Society in March 2024 as a transfer from another shelter. I love adventure and have a lot of energy! I enjoy long walks to the park. Copper is a very smart boy who picks things up very quickly! I suffer from a pretty serious addiction to toys and playing fetch. However, Once I get all my energy out, I am happy to lay down and snuggle with my humans.  I play nicely with other dogs. CCHS is not aware of how I will react around cats, but a temperament test can be arranged if needed.

BECK

I am a Retriever mix, who came to CCHS as a stray dog in 2019. First impressions are not my strong suit.  I am scared when I meet new people, so I bark and sometimes growls. Once you have my trust, I am the sweetest, silliest boy! My favorite thing is to lay in the sun and roll around the grass on my back. I love to play with other dogs, but I do not like cats. I am house trained, crate trained and walk excellent on a leash.

BAILEY GRACE

I was brought into Colonial Capital Humane Society as an owner surrender. My family did not have time for me, so they kept me outside. The shelter life is stressful, so it’s hard let my true personality shine. I am considered dog selective because it takes me a minute to warm up to other dogs. I prefer a slow introduction, but I wouldn't mind being a single-dog companion either! I am kid and cat friendly!

Willow

January 2024 I was presented to CCHS with a broken leg. With the generosity of a community member, CCHS were able to get me the help I needed. Currently I am bouncing around with joy as I patiently wait for my big moment! I have two different colored eyes and I love to play with other cats.

Having a hard time deciding? You are more than welcome to come to the shelter to visit and get to know each available sponsored animal! With more than 100 animals currently being cared for by Colonial Capital Humane Society, we'll help you find someone who captures your heart.
